DRAWING (Class – 06)

07.09.18

Today’s class was all about Perspective. The first half started off with ma’am explaining what Perspective is (the art of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface so as to give the right impression of their height, width, depth, and position in relation to each other). After this we started with ‘One Point Perspective’ i.e., is a drawing method that shows how things appear to get smaller as they get further away, converging towards a single ‘vanishing point‘ on the horizon line. It is a way of drawing objects upon a flat piece of paper (or other drawing surface) so that they look three-dimensional and realistic. We were instructed to make a one point perspective composition using various shapes. It was my first time with Perspective, I was pretty confused initially but ma’am cleared my confusion and helped me get a hold of the concept. We were given the liberty to shade.

The second half started off with ma’am explaining what ‘Two Point Perspective’ also know as ‘ Linear Perspective’ i.e., in which parallel lines along the width and depth of an object are represented as meeting at two separate points on the horizon that are 90 degrees apart as measured from the common intersection of the lines of projection. We were then instructed to draw a two point perspective composition.

Todays class was a lot of fun and I cannot wait for the next class and learn about the ‘Three Point Perspective’.
